Meet Gerry . . .
Gerry Schmich, Career Coach

My career in coaching leaders spans more than twenty years going back to
the days that I worked for IBM in a variety of management positions. Some of
the functions I worked in include manufacturing, quality, production
control, personnel, and management development. I was involved in coaching
as well as designing, and facilitating training seminars for managers and
executives for the last six years at IBM.
After leaving big blue in 1992, I began free lance consulting as a
leadership seminar facilitator and coach working with both large and small
businesses. In 1993 I contracted with the Instructional Design Group from
Morristown, N.J. and Denver University to develop the award winning
"Emerging Leaders: Navigating The Future" program offered to entrepreneurs,
executives, managers and other leaders through the Daniels College of
Business at DU. One of the key pillars of the program was an emphasis on
executive coaching. Each participant was given the opportunity for
individual coaching during the four month long program. I was impressed with
the quick and thorough results that personal coaching can bring to people,
shortening the time for their growth and development.
In 1999 I decided to establish a coaching practice focused on leaders.
Keeping with my interest in lifelong learning I enrolled in Coach University
(a virtual university) and graduated in 2003 after expanding my knowledge,
skills and resources as a coach.
On a more personal note---I have been married to Jackie (an artist!) since
1960. We have two beautiful daughters, Cristi and Jodi. Cristi
and her husband Matthew have two kids (our grandchildren!), Samantha and
Daniel. They live in Ferndale, Washington which is up on the Canadian
border. Jodi and her husband Peter live in Lakewood, Colorado and both
are involved in several small businesses and real estate investment. They
are also avid windsurfers who love their time at the beach in Aruba or Padre
Island.
Our home sits at the base of the Rocky Mountains in beautiful Loveland,
Colorado......close to all the things we love to do like painting, hiking,
biking, skiing and great canyon rides on my Honda 750 motorcycle.
